Energy today: Storing and Conversion: the challenge
Opening speech December 9th, 2010
Chair of Sustainable development – Environment, Energy and Society
Our planet is facing an environmental stake of importance, surely one of the biggest scientific challenges of the next decades: Energy storage and conversion. What are we talking about? What about the new materials and innovations to put into play to take up the challenge of mastering and managing energies?
How are we going to answer the environmental urgency? Jean-Marie Tarascon takes bearings on these questions that concern our future and the future of our Planet. In his opening speech at the Collège de France, he depicts the situation and presents the Li-ion technologies, the contribution of the nanotechnologies, and the research aiming at elaborating materials using “bio-inspired” methods.
