Second edition of the RS2E award: €12.500 in prize money!
For the second year in a row, RS2E (the French network on electrochemical energy storage) is organizing an ambitious competition for young innovative researchers. The YESS Award (Young Energy Storage Scientist Award) will reward 2 young scientists working in the field of electrochemical energy storage. The YESS Award is a contest with €12.500 available to researchers aged 35 years at most. To participate candidates must submit an original and innovative project by July 27th, 2016.
The jury will grant €12.500 to reward two young scientists (€10.000 for the most innovative project and €2.500 for the second one, free of use).
HOW TO PARTICIPATE?
> The project
Participants have to submit an innovative project through an application form of a few pages. The projects can address (i) all the field related to electrochemical energy storage, or (ii) associated characterization techniques or (iii) devices coupling an electrochemical energy conversion and storage function.
To give some examples, projects can address issues at a system level (pack, cell, BMS…), at an element level (electrode, electrolyte, current collector...), at a process level etc. The project can be written in French or English (click here to download the application form).
- project submission until July 27th 2016,
- deliberation of the international jury in September,
- award ceremony during the "Batteries 2016" congress in Nice, on September 29th, 2016.
> Egibility criteria
- submit a project and supporting documents in due time (dowload below),
- be, at most, 35 on December 31st, 2016,
- have at least a master's degree in a field related to the object of the award on January 1st, 2016,
- have the nationality of a member country of the European Union, of Canada, of the US or have worked/studied at least one year in France during the past two years,
- read and accept the terms and conditions (download below).
You will find all the information and documents necessary to participate on the contest page.
Partnership with the Batteries 2016 congress
A partnership with the “Batteries” conference strongly supports the YESS Award. Indeed, this annual event brings together industrialists and batteries technologies specialists (lithium-ion, lead ...) and their applications (electric vehicles ...). In such a place, the winner will be easily able to share his research at the award ceremony on September 29th!
This year "Batteries 2016" will be held in Nice from September 28th to September 30th. For more information on the congress and the registration process, click here.
RS2E is the French research network on electrochemical energy storage. Founded in 2011 under the aegis of the Ministry of higher education and research and CNRS (French national center for scientific research), we are currently investigating nine research areas: Advanced Li-ion, Capacitive storage, New chemistries, Smart materials, Eco-compatible storage, Safety, Theory, Analytical techniques and Benchmarking. All of them are potential levers to build the future of energy storage and, more precisely, of supercapacitors and rechargeable batteries. RS2E is coordinated by Professor Jean-Marie Tarascon and Professor Patrice Simon with the support of 11 leading French scientists. As of today, we bring together 15 industrial partners, 17 French public research laboratories and 3 applied research centers.
